Photos From This Past Weekend

Holding on in “the times of trouble.”

Sunrise or Sunset? Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt (This is actually from Wednesday, February 26, 2025, but I just had to share it).
My best friend Mook and I, many years ago. I think this may have been in 2006 or 2007. She shared this with me on Saturday, March 01, 2025.

Sunday morning workout. I’m so weird. I have on like 3 layers in this photo. LOL! It was cold outside, and I had just returned from walking Jernee. Sunday, March 02, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt

My favorite girl. Jernee had a seizure on Sunday morning. This is her resting after I gave her a haircut and a bath. Sunday, March 02, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt

“When it rains, it pours.” On Sunday, March 02, 2025, Jernee Timid had a seizure. It was a light episode, lasting about two minutes, and it was the first time she had one. I’ve been mentally preparing for Jernee’s transition for a few years now. The Little Monster is a fighter and seems to fight her way out of every traumatic event that has occurred to her. But this . . . this, I will not tolerate. I will not have her form a life of convulsions and episodic seizures. I just WILL NOT.

She has an appointment next Thursday with her vet for lab work and an overall checkup. They may do some other tests as well while we’re there. However, if she has another seizure, I am to call them and bring her in straight away or go to our Emergency Vet’s office. If the little one makes it to April 06, 2025, she will be 17 years old. But I have to be honest, folks . . . this really took a lot out of her, and I won’t be mad at her one bit if she doesn’t see her seventeenth birthday. I don’t want her suffering, and I will see to it that she does not.

Here’s hoping all of you had a great weekend and that you’ll have a wondrous week ahead as well.

Peace and blessings.

Sunday dinner: BBQ Pork belly. I don’t typically eat pork. However, I had a craving for it, so I have learned not to deny myself what I want, but to eat it in moderation when I have a certain craving. Sunday, February 16, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt

The weekend always passes by so quickly. It’s as though it is trying to leave before we can tell it how much we love and need it. I think if I start giving it a bit more money to coax it to be my forever partner, it’ll probably stay put. I doubt it, though. It’s like a rolling stone–so many hats, so many homes outside of mine.

Have a fantastic week ahead, beautiful people! Peace and blessings!

Breaks Are Necessary

And it’s time A Cornered Gurl takes one . . .

I will be away from WordPress from Monday, January 06, 2025, until Sunday, January 12, 2025. There are three scheduled posts for readers and visitors to enjoy in my absence. The comments have been turned off as I will not be logged in to respond to them and congregate with you. I hope and pray that this week will be more than kind to everyone who has ever visited this site.

I wish you love, peace, joy, and strength as the week morphs from beginning to end.

Peace and blessings.

what the body thinks of sexy weather

this morning, the body failed
to jolt up in routine.
I flounced on the bed,
unsure of where I was, and
the aches hit me.

could it be an early Autumn
cold or the flu or the dreaded
COVID-19 finally coming
to test my strength?

sexy weather greeted us earlier
this week and the change
is changing me.
I know this day will be
spent huddling under covers,
sipping licorice tea with raw honey,
and watching movies.

I can’t bring myself to do
much else.

woe to the woman whose
weekend will be spent
nursing herself back to
health because even though
I am ready for the weather to
thunder roll in an inviting way,
the body is not.

Running With the Clouds Part II

Miranda’s Reasons (Microfiction)

Her days were never about her. She worked twelve-hour shifts for a measly $6.25 per hour plus tips.

In Pensacola, Florida, the stress from her job is as hot as the weather. She hated her boss. She hated where she lived. And her boyfriend, Rick, finally confessed to cheating on her.

To make matters worse, her baby brother, Jake, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma two weeks ago.

Killing herself seemed appropriate . . . it seemed right. She’ll die so others can live.

Part I

Thursday Night’s Dinner

Thursday Night’s Dinner, ©2024  Tremaine L. Loadholt

For dinner, I made fried colossal shrimp and a side salad on Thursday night. For the shrimp, I used the same wet batter as I did for my fried chicken: dairy-free milk, one egg, and various seasonings. Cornmeal (yellow) is what I used to coat/dredge them in instead of flour.

The salad is spinach, cucumbers, strawberries, blueberries, cherry tomatoes, onions, and Feta cheese. The dressing, applied later, was Ranch.

I had an extra tartar sauce from my seafood dinner from last weekend and I most certainly used it, along with some ketchup as dipping sauces for the shrimp.

It was truly a tasty delight!

For Friday night, I had the remaining shrimp, roasted red potatoes, and cucumbers with onions, strawberries, Feta cheese, and Ranch dressing.

Here’s hoping all of you will have an incredible weekend. Happy Saturday!
