Two Things Thursday #10

1. My brand new pair of skates. Now, for the time being, I have two pairs! Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt

1. My new skates arrived on Tuesday afternoon, and I am in LOVE with them! There is nothing wrong with my other skates at all. I simply wanted a pair with sure-grip and rubber wheels, all black.

When my eyes landed on these beauties as I searched Amazon for what I would instantly know as most appealing, they were the pair I decided to purchase after reading about their specs. I cannot wait to take these babies for a spin tonight! And then again on Sunday afternoon!

I’ll report back over the weekend about my test drive in them tonight.

2. Jernee Timid is sharing my chair and electric blanket with me. I should probably be grateful for this as I am certain it may not occur again anytime soon. Lol!

She loves my chair and the electric blanket–so much so, I’ve carted a doggy heated pad for her I found via Amazon. I’ll purchase that tomorrow.

I have a lot of pictures of her commandeering this chair and blanket, and I’m sure there will be many more! She likes what she likes.

She has so many places to sit in our apartment; places catered to her and to myself as well, yet the one piece of furniture I want for myself, she will not let me have. Whelp, what are you going to do?! 😂🤣😆

Live and let live, I guess.

And now, a few photos of me from Sunday; before I reached the skating rink and after.

Rolling Around the Past with My Present

A free verse poem

I am in tune — my body
connects with my soul
as I rolled around the
skating rink.

Life has a funny way of
bringing you back
full circle — to where you
should have been a
decade ago, but here you
are now … ready to dive
into a pastime and you
cannot remember why
you let it go.

The music is blasting — speakers
are thumping with artists you
wish you could meet
in person.
The strobe light spins and
shines … this is your forgotten
wonderland — your place
of peace.

As I smoothly circled around
the hardwood floor, hoodie
swaying in the breeze, I
would’ve paid good
money to see how wide the
smile was on my face.

My past used to torture me;
it used to send me into a
downward spiral and the
climb upward always catapulted me
into a fretful fit.
And now, there’s this — this
pure goodness I should’ve
welcomed back with open
arms before today.

But maybe it wasn’t
time yet.
Maybe I hadn’t reached the
place of growth I needed to
reach, and God is always
on time.

So, I am here … back in
this space that sends
me into an armful of
happiness with much
leftover to share — rolling
around the rink, reminiscent
of my past as I share it
with my present.

I Picked Up an Old Pastime–Rollerskating

Sunday Funday Skating Session

And I just want to say, my body is feeling it, and I’m sure, will be feeling it well into the night and most of this coming week, but it was so worth it!

My skates. I’ve named them, “Salt & Pepa”. I sure did. IYKYK.

I intend to make this a weekly thing; retraining my body toward skating and picking up another source of exercise.

I enjoyed every moment of it, and I am so happy I shook off the fear and jumped back into something I truly love.

I may be getting older, but I won’t let aging sideline me!

Happy Sunday, beautiful people!
