The Little Monster has been sick for about a week, and she’s feeling so much better today. I snapped the photo above yesterday after she jumped onto my chair and got cozy atop the electric blanket.
I guess she’s back to her regularly scheduled antics! 😂😆🤣
We have a follow-up with her Vet’s office on Tuesday for labs and also a recheck on what had been going on with her (she’s prone to getting hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, but takingFamotidine when the beginning symptoms occur typically keeps her from being hospitalized). And I am all for keeping her out of the hospital. That last hospitalization cost me $996.56, and I will NEVER forget that total.
Because she’s on the mend, I wanted to pen a series of senryu to her existence. She keeps me happy, and I am so grateful to have her around 15 years later.
Happy Sunday, beautiful people! May it be full of peace and joy and genuine love.
Saturday, I had to meet up with our training crew from work to do some Christmas/Holiday shopping for our In-Office Agents and new Hires.
We had a blast! We went to a breakfast spot aptly named First Watch. The food was delicious and my drink (Morning Meditation) was also. We had lovely conversations and discussions as we savored the selections we chose.
We left the place with full bellies and hearts ready to stuff Christmas stockings with various do-dads and trinkets and candy!
Sam’s Club was the next destination, Target, then The Dollar Tree.
Overall, I am exhausted from the outing, but I truly enjoyed myself. And Jernee was so mad that I left without her; you can tell the judgment is being laid on thick from the expression on her face in the photos below.

And, I’m rather partial to this one, too. For years, I would not share many photos of myself online because when I did, I would get weird & creepy messages from men (& some women). I had a complex and would often hide behind hoodies and cover my face in some kind of way. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt

Later, my cousins came over to visit. My cousin Akua (Ah-Quay-Ah) decided it would be a great idea to walk across the street and get her nails done.
Yesterday was Get-Myself-Together-Day, so today consisted of walking/exercising, reading, writing, watching TV, cooking, and interacting with a few friends.
And of course, it was Groom-Jernee-Day today as well.
The Little Monster loves to be clean but doesn’t like the process to achieve said cleanness. However, she has a mommy who is a bit of a neat freak and also rather anal-retentive, so she has to deal with it.
I began her grooming session by giving her a trim. Being that she’s older, her hair doesn’t grow as much as it used to. Trimming her doesn’t take long, but she gets restless, and that tends to throw a kink in things.

She seems to like the trim and post-bath photo session. It’s a win for today! Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
We managed to get this part of the grooming done in about twenty-five minutes. I bathed her; washed her twice and made sure all the remnants of soap had been rinsed thoroughly.
And then, I towel and blow-dried her hair, brushing it in between.
She looks a little concerned in this picture. The expression on her face is classic! Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt

When it was all said and done, I took her back outside for a short walk and then brought her back upstairs so she could eat a hearty meal. She’s had a full day. But we wouldn’t have it any other way. She’s clean and happy and is sporting a new haircut, too. All is well!

Have a lovely Monday, everyone. Here’s hoping your weekend was as peaceful and relaxing as ours.

There is NEVER a dull moment in my life–not with this little senior dog around, uh uh. NEVER!
She will get a bath and a haircut today after I get back home from getting my hair washed and retwisted. It’s going to be a long day, beautiful people.

The Little Monster commandeered my chair and fell into a deep slumber.
She’s a sweet girl; keeps me laughing and keeps me on my toes.
She is the most loyal being I’ve ever come across and only barks when she’s protecting me or our space.
She lives to love me and I live to love and take care of her.
I think about if we all had the ability to love like many animals love us and we actually displayed this love regularly how peaceful this world could, would be.
