Happy Fall Break!

For the next four days, I am off, and I will ENJOY IT!

Yesterday, Wednesday, November 26, 2025, I worked from 07:15 AM until 2:00 PM, and my Fall Break began right as I clocked out! I plan on doing my fair share of resting, relaxing, writing, reading, working out, and watching movies. For the holiday, I will cook braised BBQ beef & onions, seafood salad, & baked cabbage with onions & Roma tomatoes. I will also have Hawaiian sweet rolls.

I am inviting peace, quiet, reflection, love, and a stress-free day to my doorstep. If anything does not align with those things, it will have to be removed from my space.

If you intend to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, may you enjoy it to the fullest with minimal to no drama, good food, family, and football (or your favorite movies). If you do not wish to celebrate the holiday, may you have all the peace, love, good food, great TV, and good reading on the itinerary.

Regardless of anything, though, may all of you be safe. Happy Fall Break, everyone!

Peace and blessings.

Have you gotten your copy of SéduireSerial Tales & Flash Fiction at Lulu in E-Book Paperback versions, or Amazon in Paperback (only) yet?

I am on Substack as well. Poking the Bear’s Belly for Fun is a place of healing as I speak about recent events with a previous place of employment, as it pertains to racism and discrimination, growth from the transition after resigning from that company, and life’s foibles and overall experiences. I welcome your visit.

Aunt Laura’s Seafood Macaroni-n-Cheese

The house drowned in the scents of shrimp, crab meat, creamy cheeses, and love.

Aunt Laura’s seafood macaroni-n-cheese is what we lived for every Thanksgiving. My cousins, Philip, Dominique, Sydney, and I attempted to sneak nibbles as soon as it floated away from the oven by our auntie’s aged, yet caring hands.

“Get outta that kitchen, y’all! I ain’t playin’!”

That’s our Nana. She means business–we don’t want her wrath. But we want that cheesy and seafood goodness ASAP, so we try again.

“IF I HAVE TO GET UP FROM THIS CHAIR, Y’ALL ARE GOING TO BE SORRY! WHAT DID I SAY?!”

Mission unaccomplished.

I woke up with the main character chiming in this morning, and I simply had to write this piece of microfiction. For those of you who celebrate, may this Thanksgiving holiday be a joyful, peaceful, loving, and blessed one for you and yours.

Have you gotten your copy of my new book: a collection of serial tales & flash fiction, Séduire (E-Book and Paperback) yet?

I Bet, You’ll Laugh!

For those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope today will be kind, peaceful, full of love & happiness, and a hearty meal or two or three.

I’m so thankful and grateful for this life to live, and I hope and pray that I’ll be given more of it to share love and spread joy to others.

Now … a little laughter-inducing Instagram reel for your holiday enjoyment!

The Babies Are My Energy

It’s amazing how much of my brothers I see in their children. Joshua sent me the photo you see above of him and Sarai, and I instantly thought about how much my niece looks like my younger brother when he was a toddler. He was BAD. OMG! Joshua was such a handful. I am certain I had high blood pressure dealing with him while he was growing up. Lol. Thyrie looks so much like TJ when he was a baby. I think back to the days of him growing up and I get a little emotional. We’ve always been close. He’s the brother everyone says, “OMG, y’all look just alike” about, and I just nod and smile.

Me and TJ, about 5 years ago.

Their children are my energy. I push myself so that I’ll one day reconnect with all of them. I moved away from home when I was eighteen years old. Truth be told, I was running away from things I didn’t care for and wanted to be far away from, and I just kept running.

But receiving photos of the beautiful additions to my family’s bloodline and being so far away from them all gets to me sometimes. I am missing so much. I breathe in and dream of these little ones. I breathe out and ponder on their whereabouts and well-being.

When everything seems to be branding me with anger and pain, I think about them, and my energy is renewed.

Thanksgiving Eve: A Poem

my blood can’t handle any more apologies, insistence on the right to celebrate genocide…

Thanksgiving Eve: A Poem

A poem by the lovely Jennifer Patino. Let it sink in. Allow it to marinate for a moment in your bones. However you spend this day, I hope you do it safely and with more awareness than you should probably have.

Please go to the original poem to “like” and “comment.” Her words deserve that. Peace and blessings.
