Letting Go Should Be Easy

Jernee’s last days

I will miss this sweet face. She means the entire world to me.

Jernee has a vet visit for Friday, September 12, 2025, at 0900. The first thing we will discuss is end-of-life options, and I’m preparing myself for that date to be her last with me.

Letting go should be easy, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is not. However, I won’t prolong the inevitable.

These next few weeks are going to try my patience due to Jernee’s decline, but I am going to do everything in my power to make sure she has the best last days on God’s green earth.

I may not have the mental wherewithal to respond to comments, but I will leave them on, and I thank you for any warm wishes, peaceful thoughts, and words of wisdom in advance.

Peace and blessings.

Happy 16th Birthday, Jernee Timid!

Zumi Tye meeting Jernee Timid for the first time on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

Today is my favorite Chorkie’s birthday. Jernee Timid Loadholt has been a part of my life since she was one day shy of 7 weeks old. To see that she has made it to age 16 is a MILESTONE. All the dogs I have known and loved, in my life, did not make it to this age.

It’s a beautiful thing to witness my own dog reach such a long and winding path of life. She’s not feeling well today, but maybe that’ll change. Whatever she wants to do, she can.

You’re only 16 once. ❤️💜💙

HAPPY SWEET 16 JERNEE TIMID LOADHOLT!

I Think We’ve Got a Good Thing Here

Jernee Timid: Testing out her new heated pad after I’d given her a trim and a bath.

Remember that heated pad I said I’d order for Jernee?! Well, it arrived yesterday afternoon and The Little Monster seems to enjoy it.

Although her sitting/lying on it for a long time did not occur . . .  she tested it out for about thirty minutes, and while I was cleaning and moving about from room to room throughout our apartment, she’d gotten her little self up and in my chair again.

But at least she likes it! I think it’s going to take some getting used to for her, but she didn’t outright decline lying on it.

If you ask me, that’s a WIN for me. 🤣😆😂 It means she isn’t opposed to having this new item grow on her.

I’ll take it!

The Little Monster has been sick for about a week, and she’s feeling so much better today. I snapped the photo above yesterday after she jumped onto my chair and got cozy atop the electric blanket.

I guess she’s back to her regularly scheduled antics! 😂😆🤣

We have a follow-up with her Vet’s office on Tuesday for labs and also a recheck on what had been going on with her (she’s prone to getting hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, but taking Famotidine when the beginning symptoms occur typically keeps her from being hospitalized). And I am all for keeping her out of the hospital. That last hospitalization cost me $996.56, and I will NEVER forget that total.

Because she’s on the mend, I wanted to pen a series of senryu to her existence. She keeps me happy, and I am so grateful to have her around 15 years later.

Happy Sunday, beautiful people!

May it be full of peace and joy and genuine love.

The recommended calming treats, complete with CBD oil, have been ordered for my little monster.

I’m praying, upon their arrival, they will help with her anxiety. She has been keeping me up some nights, and Mommy is not a happy camper about this.

That’s the life of a senior dog parent, though, right? Right.
