the feigned innocence
she displays
will never fool me

*A lune (rhymes with moon) is a very short poem. It has only three lines. It is similar to a haiku. A haiku has three lines, and it follows a 5/7/5 syllable pattern. The lune’s syllable pattern is 5/3/5. Since the middle line is limited to three syllables, it is often the shortest line of the three. This makes a lune curve a bit like a crescent moon.

For the next twenty-five days, except Saturdays and Sundays, I will share a lune with each of you. This is Lune#2 of this project.

I’ve bitten my tongue–
can’t express
what I want to say

stepping out into the unknown

3 Lunes

casually, I leap
forward with
my heart in my hands

this new wave of growth
sharpens my
life’s abilities

I am shifting time
and bracing
for the great unknown.

Author’s Note: I am making a few changes that will allow me to operate soon as an entrepreneur in the world of writing. Each step is a cautious one where I am riddled with fear, but I am moving forward anyway. In the next few months, there will be several announcements to the growth of A Cornered Gurl and also regarding my work as a writer. Thank you for your presence here.

here in this calm space
I recall
days that pass me by

grateful for new years
and new loves
and new lives to hold

I wish everyone here a very Happy New Year and with each passing day, let them be a gift to you full of lasting memories and lasting love.

Hello, 2020!

the foggy sunrise
awakens a dewy morn
heaven on this earth

captured by its light
sun-filled clouds
rain down on our heads

an autumn morning
cold as ice
freezes our quick steps

bruised, blue fingertips
covered in cotton-thin gloves
pockets are their home

a new day bursts through
the sun lives
it breathes once again
