Poem for an Image

#6: Saturday lunch

Throwback cooking: I purchased a small can of Crisco All Vegetable Shortening because I was feeling nostalgic, and I’m glad I did. My fish tasted like crispy heaven, and my cheese grits were absolutely delicious! Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt

a late lunch, early dinner
after a day of work;
overtime was easy to
get, needed the distraction.

a full belly clapped in
appreciation, my legs
buckled twenty minutes
after–naptime knocked at
my temples, rest found
me in a zone.

I needed the food.
I needed the sleep.

Have you gotten your copy of my new book: a collection of serial tales & flash fiction, Séduire (E-Book and Paperback) yet?

I recently signed up to write on Substack as well. Poking the Bear’s Belly for Fun is a place of healing as I speak about the most recent events with a previous place of employment, as it pertains to racism and discrimination, growth from the transition after resigning from that company, and life’s foibles and overall experiences. I welcome your visit.

Black History Facts You Didn’t Learn In School

Yecheilyah Ysrayl of The PBS Blog has launched a new work of art. Black History Facts You Didn’t Learn In School is available on all purchasing platforms!

She has spent years researching the history facts she shares in this book, including traveling to several places to dig deeper into some of the things she discusses within it.

I’ve just carted my copy on Amazon, and I cannot wait until it’s in my hands.

Black History is America’s History! Sadly, much of it is being buried or lied about or banned, and this disgusts me, but the work must be done.

Happy Saturday, beautiful people!

“Just the Two of Us”

Our Saturday Morning Walk During New Year’s Weekend, 2023.

For those of you wondering, I picked up her poop after I was done recording and placed it in the puppy business bin right up the block. We are courteous around these parts. 🤣😂😆

I pray the upcoming new year will be what you need and want it to be. May there be many blessings raining down upon you, your family, and your friends.

Be kind to one another. Love one another. Try to understand each other. Refuse to let hate win.

Happy Saturday, beautiful people!

Peace and blessings.
