Caison Michael at his soccer game. We were getting ready to leave, and I just had to snag a photo of him. Look at his smile! I just love my little Munchkin Man! Saturday, May 03, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt

Contemplative Tre: My neighborhood has a new playground and dog-bark park now. The complex is huge, so to have these additions blows my mind. I was taking a bit of a rest since we walked at least a 1/2 mile to get to it. Jernee was sniffing around, as you can see in the photo below. Saturday, May 03, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. I wanted so badly to go inside and play, but my knees were like, “Honey Bunny, don’t you dare!” LOL! Saturday, May 03, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt

I love going to Caison’s games. It doesn’t matter which sport it is, I try my best to get to as many as I can. Jaidy is supposed to be playing basketball next season, and I will be at as many of her games as I can make it to, also. Friday night was peaceful. Saturday morning was intense with my workout before getting ready for the soccer game. Sunday was a day I needed and did not know it. Overall, it was a peaceful yet fulfilling weekend. I hope this week has been and will be more than kind to all of you!

The Residence

NaPoWriMo #30

Because the dog was
having trouble breathing,
I didn’t get much sleep.

I stayed home from work
to monitor her – the love
of my life, my little monster.

And when she finally found
sleep again, I drifted off, too.
I couldn’t pin down an hour
of sleep, so I got up.

I read. I wrote. I checked
the dog’s breathing.
Her allergies aren’t our
friend this season. Benadryl is.

She dozed off again.
I read. I ate lunch.
I Netflixed by watching
The Residence. 4 episodes
in, and I am hooked!

Cupp is particular. She is
calculated – a perfectionist.
She questions everything.
She examines the unimaginable.
I understand her.

I’m falling in love with a show
that plays hide-and-seek with
my thought process and
places me on the edge of
my seat.

I wasn’t searching for a series
that would be both intriguing
and shocking – I loathe series.
I have to be moved, perplexed,
mesmerized, and changed.

The Residence dishes out
all of this and more.
It is the quintessential mainstay
of perfection in a comedic
mystery. I found my
happy place while my
dog struggled to breathe.

And I almost lost my breath, too.

NaPoWriMo is finished. I survived 30 days of posting poetry every day for another year. And to end it with this one feels magical. Thanks for doing April with me, folks. I appreciate you.

A two-for-one special post

Saturday morning workout. I decided to cool down in the aerobics room. The fitness room was getting a little too crowded for my taste. And by “crowded,” I mean, two other people came in there. LOL! Saturday, April 19, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
Besides, the aerobics room has the best mirror effects. LOL! Saturday, April 19, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
Saturday’s lunch: cheesy baked potatoes with/ onions, and turnip greens. Also, a few strips of bacon. Saturday, April 19, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
Zumni Tye was actually watching me move about our living room–gathering things and cleaning up. I stopped and snapped a photo because I was in total disbelief. 💙♥️💛 My tortoise baby is growing up! Saturday, April 19, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
Please don’t ask me why she looks like she has lost her VERY best friend. Jernee is attitudinal these days. I never know what I am going to get when she wakes up. I just deal with it. She’s 17- she has earned the right to be a super duper grouch, and I will just be okay with it. LOL! Saturday, April 19, 2025. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
I did not go to the fitness room on Sunday. I decided to do a 2-mile walk around my neighborhood instead. I was feeling bound up and a bit more stressed than normal, so being outside in the early morning breeze was better than being cooped up in the fitness room in the basement. Sunday, April 20, 2025. in the heat of the glory days & sun-soaked nights

haven’t had the pleasure
to enjoy basking in
the goodness of a secret shared
in decades – my glory days
and sun-soaked nights are
winding down.

soon, I’ll spend them with
a sandman who knows all
about losing sleep over
full lips instead of a
broken heart.

The Sunday Night Routine

NaPoWriMo #21

I melt into myself from
a lazy day that mainly
incorporates working out,
reading, writing, cooking,
staying sane, and trying not
to spiral.

I morph into my grandmother,
who is almost 90 years old.
She is a worrier who doesn’t
understand the word “No.”
I overthink. I overanalyze.
I overcompensate for things
I should have acknowledged
from my past.

The dog is clingier than normal.
I think she believes I will
disappear without a moment’s
notice.
The TV is background noise.
It assists and acts as my
co-writer and co-creator.

I miss out on sleep waiting for
the “I’m home” message from
the crush.
She’s a night owl who walks
home from her second job,
which tears my nerves all
the way up, but I applaud extra
efforts in the pursuit of
monetary excellence.

I say several prayers that
usually involve me questioning
what God has in store for
my impending future, and
I plop my exhausted body
down on the pillow top with
the enhanced cooling foam
mattress topper, and sink into
a deep sleep.

I wake up in the middle
of the night to relieve
myself, but I don’t want
Sunday to end.
Soon after, it does. And I
am left longing for its
presence, hoping the next
five days will hurry up.

I miss Friday already.

the d o g sniffs around
and around, searching for that
fresh scent of heaven.

Something To Think About #7

I don’t remember where I saw this quote, but I immediately saved it because it is DEFINITELY something to think about.

I will share “Something To Think About” for the next nine weeks on Sunday afternoons. It may be a quote, a picture, an interesting phrase I heard, artwork, etc. Whatever I share will surely be intriguing or involving enough to spark a casual discussion or in-depth conversation. Stay tuned every Sunday for this feature!

Also, today is Jernee Timid’s 17th birthday! The Little Monster is still here! There is not a day that goes by that I am not in awe of her. She brings me peace. She gives me joy. And to this day, she still makes me laugh. I wouldn’t trade her for anything!

Happy 17th Birthday, Jernee Timid!
