honor to be called someone’s
firebird–
full of flight
full of fire…
but it’s funny…
I feel neither high
nor hot.
and these days
nothing seems to be
flying around for
me to even consider
changing my mind
or my heart.

Sometimes we don’t see ourselves the way other people see us. I’ve been told that many times throughout the years. So when I wrote my first book, I wanted to incorporate that very topic into my heroine’s journey. Having a low view of yourself can be quite toxic, especially when you project that viewpoint on others. So I gave my heroine a chance to “see” what she couldn’t. It’s rather hard to explain, but when you think about it in reverse. If they don’t see what you see — perhaps how pretty their eyes are when the sun reflects off of them, or the ghost of a dimple when they smile, it doesn’t mean it’s any less appealing or beautiful to you.

*nods* Sarah. It’s just a matter of… trying to understand who I am and how I am to and with others as it pertains to love and life mates or the lack thereof of both. It’s also Autumn, I get a bit down from time to time during the colder months, a bit more lonely too.

Yes, I understand. I have a harder time in winter. I like the fall a lot because it can be beautiful (leaves changing), it’s not so hot (thank goodness for that), and it’s the perfect time of year to have fires going in fire pits or fireplaces (I love the smell of a wood-burning fire). Also, apple season and Halloween (I enjoy vetted (as in, not triggering) scary movies. 😊 It’s not all bad. And even though winter is often cold, damp (or extremely dry), and dark, there can be some really pretty snowfalls. There’s something about the air when the snow falls that I enjoy.
I guess what I’m saying is, when I’m not having a really bad day (which happens more often than not) I try to focus on the good things.
