humidity is hovering
in the still dark air,
and I’m hot-flashing
out of nowhere,
yearning for a cool down.
summer is peeking
through the soon-to-be intensely
hotter weeks, trying to
make an earlier
appearance, and
I just want to walk
without sweat
congregating between my legs.
it’s going to be
another year of
panting like the dog,
as the dog days
arrive before they’re
due.
I drummed up this piece yesterday morning via notes on Substack. These little creative snippets come to me every day, and I am grateful for them. They’re getting me through the go-through.
Have you gotten your copy of my new book: a collection of serial tales & flash fiction, Séduire (E-Book and Paperback) yet?
I recently signed up to write on Substack as well. Poking the Bear’s Belly for Fun is a place of healing as I speak about the most recent events with my place of employment as it pertains to racism and discrimination. I welcome your visit.

It changed from pleasant to unbearably hot about a week ago and now just walking to the car is miserable. Sigh. I get you. 😀

Oh I dread days like those. Sweating no matters what you do. So far we’re having beautiful days. This much I can tolerate.
Aside: you’re on Substack, trE? Oh my. How do you like the atmosphere? I’ve never tried that. Medium was enough: I was a nobody there from the get go and left as such. It runs too fast for me. Made my head spin. Is Substack like Medium, You think? All the best. You’re amazing. Keep going. 👏🏽

I actually like Substack so far. It seems to be rather true to what I want to read as it pertains to my selections and who I follow. I read what I want, when I want, and I only post on my actual publication 2-3 times per week. I rather like the notes feature, so I use that daily and restack the posts of others that I am moved by as well.
Thanks for reading.

Hot flashes in summertime. What a lovely combination! My only “reprieve” is my icebox of an office, which, even though it’s nowhere near warm enough to do so yet, has turned the AC to, I’m guessing, -63 degrees Celsius. (It’s cold in there lol)

Haha. It’s cold at my job as well! I freeze and then I get hot. It’s horrendous! 😆🤣😂

Oh dear, hot flashes. I remember them well. In the middle of winter I used to open the back door. The kids would close it and say ‘Mum’, you’re the only one who’s hot.’ Hugs.

😆🤣😂 This makes me happy to live alone. I wouldn’t want anyone else suffering.

I am so glad that it is Autumn here, especially in these years of dog days.

Ugh! I truly am looking forward to autumn and winter this year. The older I get, the more I really CANNOT take the heat.
