red-speckled tortoise
moves around s l o w l y
takes sips of water
and is greedy, too–
cozies up to me
when I tap the glass.
I learned about this form recently while reading an example at The Skeptic’s Kaddish, and I instantly fell in love with the tableau.

💜❤️💙 Definitely! I’m going to buy it a portable terrarium. In my building, they do fire drills and I want to be able to load it and Jernee up in my arms and race out of my building safely.
The last time one occurred, I couldn’t get Zumi and as soon as the drill was done, I raced upstairs (4 flights) to make sure ZuZu hadn’t been harmed. Thankfully, there was no fire anywhere, just a drill.

Thank you! Zumi is in a class all by itself. I didn’t think another living being could have as much personality as Jernee, but this little reptile is very animated. 😂😆🤣
