It’s 10,000° Outside!

The things we do for our pets

A short walk with The Little Monster today.

Honey Bunnies, I’m not one for the heat! I cannot stand it! I’d rather be relaxing in the air-conditioned spaces I frequent (i.e., my living room or bedroom), instead of taking Jernee Timid out for a walk when it’s Devil Weather!

This is NOT my calling. However, I do love my baby, and I’d do anything for her, but I’m going to need her to pick up the pace when it’s hotter than the corns on the Devil’s toes outside.

How are y’all surviving the heat this year?! Stay hydrated. Stay cool. Stay indoors as much as you can.

I am truly looking forward to the cool down headed our way!

Have you gotten your copy of my new book: a collection of serial tales & flash fiction, Séduire (E-Book and Paperback) yet?

I recently signed up to write on Substack as well. Poking the Bear’s Belly for Fun is a place of healing as I speak about the most recent events with my place of employment, as it pertains to racism and discrimination. I welcome your visit.

    • Hmm. But she’s a dog. 😂🤣😆 I’ve actually never heard of Herbert the Feral Cat. At least, I don’t remember.

    • Thank you kindly! Today begins our cool down for about two weeks. I’m truly looking forward to this. However, it’s predicted we’ll have plenty of rain, too. So, we shall see. 🙏🏾🩵

      • Thank you! I wish the same for you, too! I know it’s super hot there. You guys get nights that are cooler, though, correct? Or no?

And your heat probably isn’t as heatstroke-inducing as ours cuz we get all the darn humidity, too. *Sighs*

      • A few degrees cooler, which helps and also turns me into somewhat of a night owl during the summer. The Valley of the Sun has turned into a concrete jungle, trapping the heat. Ugh! There’s still the dangerous heatstroke factor – happens far too often, but it is a dry heat, you’re right. Ohio was humid! 😳 I like experiencing different climates, and cultures when able. 👍🏻 Stay safe, cool, and hydrated.

    • I try to steer her to the grassy areas more than anything. That’s why we were so close to the grass, but she’s so particular, she just takes forever now to find the perfect spot.

There is even an underpass that I lead her to with so much shade, but the area doesn’t have grass, it has wood chips & dirt, and she’ll only go over there if she truly feels like it. She’s so bougie! 🤣😆😂

And she won’t keep her booties on her paws. She kicks them off or rubs them against her face to push them off her. She’s just extra!

    • She’s okay. Monday was a somewhat iffy day for her. Her tummy was bothering her, but she’s been good overall this week.

We’re going to start experiencing MUCH lower temperatures soon, and I’m looking forward to it for the both of us!

      Thank you. 🩵💜❤️

  • The things we gotta do for our loves. I’m sure it’s the heat that has her so lethargic outdoors. She much prefers the cool of home, I’m sure. But hey, we’ve survived most of it. Not much left to go now. Hang on, li’l Sista — fall cannot arrive soon enough.

On the bright side, that tsunami brought us the coolest temps. What a relief! Still it was scary to wait out the tsunami… I was shaken out of my skin. I feel for the people in Russian island.

    Be well. Hugs

  • It really is 10,000 degrees! You can’t convince me otherwise! We keep the ac up at home so it doesn’t burn out the old unit, but in my office at work, it’s actually super frigid because they just put in a new system. I’m relishing that while I’m there!

    • 😆🤣😂

I keep the ceiling fan and AC running inside on the hottest days. Soon, I’ll be able to turn the AC off for a few days and let the ceiling fans run. I am really looking forward to that!
