An Ugly War

Sunday Microfiction #3

Pictured Microfiction: An Ugly War. Created with Canva. By now, I’m sure all of you have heard what Donald J. Trump has done. WWIII, here we come. I have a cousin, Chrissy’s daughter, who lives in Bahrain. I have been checking in with her–making sure she’s okay. She is not far from Iran at all. God, save us from the actions of a madman and the people who follow his insane rhetoric and bring it to life.

Have you gotten your copy of my new book: a collection of serial tales & flash fiction, Séduire (E-Book and Paperback) yet?

I recently signed up to write on Substack as well. Poking the Bear’s Belly for Fun is a place of healing as I speak about the most recent events with my place of employment as it pertains to racism and discrimination. I welcome your visit.

  • My cousin just retired from the Special Forces and we all let out a breath we’d been holding for years.

This makes me so angry and nervous for the folks still enlisted. We know that promise of the post service benefits are just that.

Prayers for your family and everyone else who will be caught up in this conflict as it unfolds across so many arenas.

    • And prayers for yours, too. Thank you. Thank God your cousin retired when they could. I’m going to be a nervous wreck until Victoria gets stateside at the end of this month. She’s going home to Florida to visit. She may spend time in New York and North Carolina, too.

On this side, benefits are being cut left and right from our veterans. It’s sickening and such a heinous act. As if they didn’t already have enough hoops to jump through for simple medical attention.

Years upon years of grunt and groundbreaking work is being reversed and discontinued by this administration. It makes my blood boil. *Sighs* I’ve never prayed so much for protection from a president as much as I do now.

      I want him impeached ASAP.

      • Yeah, both my cousin and his dad were US military. Needless to say watching conflicts over the years was incredibly stressful.

To know what they went through and to watch, my uncle in particular, have to fight for his benefits was so infuriating.

So much damage has been done in such a relatively short time, it’s mind boggling.

I hope his cronies find a backbone to stand up to him and for what your people actually want, because I can’t believe this is it, and I loathe to see what happens if they don’t.

    • I appreciate that Michelle, thank you. I am praying for all involved and in the surrounding areas. All of this could have been and should have been avoided.

  • Another smoke screen being sold as looking out for our best interests. Pay attention and look at what and how this is being sold. Iran already told us to stay out of this, but you can best believe the people of the U.S. are sitting ducks. This is atrocious, and I’ve had family members and people I know who were drafted and had to serve, bone-spurs or not. Many didn’t return home alive, and those who did were damaged. Don’t get me started! 🤬

    • Kym!!! All of this! And for him to even make that call without consulting Congress is unconstitutional! Yet another thing to add to the list that deserves an impeachment, but here we are!

      *Sighs*

  • Yep. This reminds me of when I taught high school seniors and the recruiter would come sniffing around. I never let him talk to my people for this very reason.

    • 🙏🏾🩵 I appreciate our service men, women, and beautiful beings, but giving one’s life for this country is just not something I’d approve of if I were a parent and my child chose the military. I just wouldn’t.

  • I don’t think he is going to involve us any more unless Iran retaliates.
He gave them plenty of time to come to a peaceful agreement but they refused.
He promised that they would not be allowed to have nuclear capabilities, so there you have it…now they don’t.
Not sure what you expected him to do, but I truly feel he did what he thought was best. Keep Israel safe.

    • You do realize there’s more to this than what’s being said here? Why all of a sudden does another country who actually held their own for years during recent other US presidencies need a bombing from this administration who apparently doesn’t really know what they’re doing?

This is for attention. This is for play. Iran had zero intentions of using any nuclear weapons. This has been and is being played up for the masses to *think* something was going on.

Now you can bank on fuel prices escalating and increasing, plenty of people will be caught in the crossfire, and others will be hurt on all sides.

War is always avoidable. However, there’s a president in office who doesn’t care about what can be avoided, only about power, money, resources that will benefit him and his cronies, etc.

I have a cousin not too far away from this ploy and no one has time for Trump’s games when real lives are at stake.

You probably may not need to say anything else to me on this thread. I’m asking politely and out of respect for those who are older than me. Please don’t say anything else to me in response.
