Miranda’s Reasons (Microfiction)
Her days were never about her. She worked twelve-hour shifts for a measly $6.25 per hour plus tips.
In Pensacola, Florida, the stress from her job is as hot as the weather. She hated her boss. She hated where she lived. And her boyfriend, Rick, finally confessed to cheating on her.
To make matters worse, her baby brother, Jake, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma two weeks ago.
Killing herself seemed appropriate . . . it seemed right. She’ll die so others can live.
Her decision was an unwitting gift to Terry.

I’m so glad you acted on my curiosity trE, it’s great and, by the sound of things, it could lead you to expanding the story even further. Thank you.

I hope she decided that dying is not the answer, she needs to pray for a new beginning. And healing for Jake!

Hmm. She died so Terry (from Part I) and many others could live. This is just her story as to why she did it. Peter prompted it, so I moved forward with writing a bit more about her life. 🙏🏾💙

🙏🏾💙 I may take it further, but I’m unsure. I feel that maybe we may need to hear Jake’s side to his sister’s decision.
Thank you!

Yes let’s hear his side and hopefully a new plan for her!

Nope, no new plan. Miranda is already dead and gone. It’s how Terry (from Part I) gets to live.
But I am intrigued now about Jake. He’s talking to me, so I’m sure he won’t shut up until I write a bit about him.

I read Pt 1 but WP glitches: wouldn’t let me leave a message.
Because when someone reads part one, one wants to know more.
So she found a way to be useful to Terry. Altruistic till the end.
It’s sad but it gave dying real meaning. Wow. What a story.
Poignantly beautiful. Thanks for sharing, trE. Xo
