We all need somewhere to be creative

I have a workspace for my job; it’s in my bedroom. But as a writer, as a creative, I needed a small workspace not linked to my professional life.
It didn’t take much time to put this simple yet efficient (foldable) desk together, and the chair, although it looks plain & possibly unappealing (to you), it is serving its purpose. It was also quite pricey for that top-notch comfy cushion you see.
There is just something about having a place in which one’s creative thought-processes can flourish and produce digestible fruit. There is a peace in it that I cannot describe.
I’ll just have to show you.
And what workspace is complete without a candle to lend a light, inviting fragrance to the room, huh? Not one. Not one at all.

I’d forgotten the importance of lingering in a space for the express purpose of writing and creating and being at peace with how my mind works and operates as I am creating.
This space is surrounded by natural light and everything I need to bring soothing comfort to me regularly.
I do not think I could ask for anything more. I am prayerful it will fulfill its duties as time presses on. I have this feeling it will. My gut is telling me so. And, I trust my gut.
I reached out to a fellow friend and creative to see how he feels about collaborating. My idea is to write a poem and have him create art around that poem or have him create his own art piece and I write a poem enveloping his creative output. I am waiting for his response. If I know this person like I know this person, he’s going to be down for it, and before year’s end, I should have something to share here from our labor.
Now that you have been introduced to my new workspace, how about sharing your own? Tag this post or my blog in response by posting a picture and a snippet on your own blog about where you are most creative. It could be anywhere, of course.
Where do you get creative, beautiful people?
I totally agree! a designated space makes all the difference. Great job creating such a nice space.

It really does help to have a space where you can just be creative and focus on your writing. Good luck with the collab, hope you two can work together on it!

Thank you kindly! We’re already working on the work. I’ve written the poem and now he’ll work on lending the visual artistic contribution to it. 🙏🏾💙

Like you, I have a writing space. Books behind me and a window to the left, which will remind me when the sun is about to set. Lately, I’ve been itching to write/work from other locations, like cool coffee shops. Zoom calls need privacy, but the energy of other people can influence our creative work in unexpected ways. Thank you for asking!

Your creative workspace is lovely, trE! I write in coffee bars longhand and then hit my partner’s desk where the laptop sits, if I’m at home writing in my notebook, it’s at my pine desk facing the ocean and mountains…

Our dining room table is where I write/draw and at times my wife knits. Its also used for eating meals and playing skip-bo 😁

Haha. At my last place, my breakfast nook table was used for my writing and was where I ate most of my meals, so I DEF understand. 🤣😂😆

I should state, pre-COVID, I had a creative writing space in my old place but that had to be converted to my WFH space and remained that way.

Looks lovely. It’s nice to have that space that is free from mental and physical clutter. Hope you continue to enjoy it.

Thank you kindly! I appreciate that! Do you have a creative space in which you work often?

Yes. I’m lucky that there are many spaces in my house I can work. I have a spare bedroom that also doubles as a study. Once I get rid of any evidence of my day job, I set up my desk to allow me to think and write. Might involve lighting a candle and putting on y fairy lights!
I have a conservatory that is very nice in the summer so that’s where I write in the summer. I find looking out at the garden and the sky both calming and inspiring.
And on winter evenings like this, sometimes I’m just on the sofa with my laptop, a blanket and a soothing Spotify playlist in the background.

I love your workspace! What is in your diffuser? I found frankincense to be the best for focus and calm.
Anyhoo, I used to have a desk in my office when we had a true home, but I have no space of my own in the motorhome with which to create. So, I either write while in our bed, or when creating art, I go spread my work out at the activity center…when its open.

I do not have a diffuser. I have candle; it’s a soy, hand-poured black cedar and sandwood fragrance. It’s light and definitely wafts a great scent for the space. 🙂
I’ve got a pen/pencil holder, a small challkboard, and my blue light glasses (in their case) on the desk along with the laptop, mouse, and mouspad.
I can imagine you’re pretty cramped when it comes to making a creative space in your mobile home, but you’re doing it!

Sorry! I didn’t see that the black thing was a candle! Of course you, the purveyor of light, have a candle! I love that scent too! Wonderful!

I have so many candles and inscense and sage setups around my home, it’s not even funny. I am a lover of scents and fragrances; but not too lound, you know? My sinsuses can’t take loud or too intense fragrances. LOL. Thanks for the “purveyor of light” comment, Kim. I appreciate you!

Speaking of light and where I first found you on Medium. I saw a bill from them yesterday and I though, what the heck? I haven’t been on Medium for a year or so, why am I still getting a bill? I sent it to my husband to see about removing it, but I’ll probably have to figure it out myself.

You just have to remove yourself from the Partnership Program as a Member of Medium. I did that a couple months back. I did, however, receive what is probably my last 1099 MISC Tax form the other day via email and printed it this morning.
*Shakes head at Medium*
I don’t know what to say about that platform anymore. Perhaps, they’re trying to coax previous members into becoming members and paying again? It’s all too much sometimes with them.

I got a message back from them saying how to cancel the subscription from my phone since I evidently ordered through the app. ☺️
