to Swindle Consumers Like This …

And this is how capitalism works, beautiful people. It’ll just keep getting worse until we’re all run down and tired of contributing to society.
It’s a shame that everything I’m used to getting as necessities are decreasing in size yet remaining the same price. I would protest and boycott if these were things I randomly wanted, but these are things I need!
I’m going to begin researching how to make my own laundry detergent, among other things. It’s time. It’s probably well past time.
This has seriously pissed me off. But, I digress. My birthday will NOT be extremely dampened by this. It is a temporary pissing off. *Sighs*
trE.
I highly recommend switching to a product that doesn’t have any plastic. Tru Earth is one brand. They mail it to your home in cardboard that you can then recycle. There are other brands as well. I keep seeing our oceans filling with plastic and these companies keep pumping out plastic. I hope you will consider this option.
Thanks for speaking out on the issue of how companies impact our lives.

If it’s not that, Ali, I’ll definitely be making my own. Thank you very much for the suggestion! I’ll have to look the brand up and research it, too.

I agree. I think we’re about to be full circle with a lot of things. I just made my own body scrub the other day. My daughter is trying to figure out how to have her own home, so she can grow things on her own land…something is changing.

Listen, I am with you. All the products we need keep getting smaller but the price is on the rise. over it!

Exactly. I’m trying to figure out where they think this money is going to come from if the prices continue to skyrocket. Lol. I have to laugh to keep from crying.

I hear that the soap you can make gets your clothes cleaner and better for your skin.

Happy Birthday wishes and thank you for alerting other consumers, trE! What’s happening here in my neighbourhood lately is customers/consumers blithely walking into a store, filling their reusable tote bags and walking out without paying, they are angry/scared and tired…

*Sighs* And this is what people will have to do in order to survive. 😥😒🥺

This has been a disturbing trend, yes. I first noticed it with cereal, which I’ve stopped buying. It won’t be long… they’ll be selling one cornflake per box!

The only thing I can do about it is shake my head and try to find ways to do some things on my own. *Sighs* This is the world in which we live, unfortunately.

I second your sighs. 😔 We will carry on and make the most of our time here!

So, are you saying the smaller size is equal or more expensive than the larger..i feel a tad lost getting ypur point

The smaller size is the same price as the larger container. I thought I mentioned that, perhaps, I did not. Let me reread the captions.

Okay, so I did mention it was the same price as the larger container and then also mentioned in the text that other items are decreasing in size yet remaining the same price. Can you tell me what was unclear for you, so I can possibly reword it?

When packaging gets smaller, I try to remember to cross check the weights. Some companies in Australia are reducing package size to minimise the use of plastic, but the contents weigh the same.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Ah. The larger size has only a little bit of detergent left, so the weight will be off. But I didn’t even think about that. But, this is America, I’m almost certain they’re definitely swindling us. They could care less about the use of plastic. I hate to say that, but it’s the truth. *Shrugs*

I compare the weights stated on the label. If they are the same, you know they have reduced the amount of plastic in the packaging. If the smaller pack has a lower weight (but sold at the same price) it’s their sneaky way of hoodwinking the customer.

Yup, definitely two different weights (fluid ounces) & the smaller one was still the same price. Hoodwinking all day long, Peggy. 🥺

I once posted about an office supply company who packaged photo paper on the bottom shelf at the best price but also sold the exact same packages for a significantly higher price right at eye level. I was glad I discovered it because the practice continued for a couple years but I was so disheartened that customers were just people to be taken advantage of in any possible way to make some windfall profits. Customers should not have to waste valuable time trying to figure out if and how they are being tricked.

Exactly, Geoff! It’s ridiculous! And when will it stop it will it ever? I highly doubt it!

I doubt it too. It seems to be embedded as a part of human nature.

Shrink-flation is short-sighted capitalism response to nearsighted economic conditions…brand name pride mixed with venomous greed.
…not to mention less shipping cost and display vig.
