Part I: My visit with family in my hometown of Savannah, Georgia
My paternal Uncle (Uncle Frank) and his wife, (Aunt Lisa), at Love’s Seafood & Steaks Restaurant. They treated us to dinner, and it was EXQUISITELY DELICIOUS! Thursday, February 19, 2026. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
A Savannah Sunset on the water. How lovely is this?! This is located directly in front of the table where we were seated for dinner. Thursday, February 19, 2026. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
Water. Water. Water all around. Thursday, February 19, 2026. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loaholt
The pancakes just make themselves here at the hotel, where we’re staying, Tru by Hilton. It’s located on the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport campus. Friday, February 20, 2026. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt

My lovely nonagenarian, paternal grandmother. Yes, she really is in her 90s. She’ll be 91 in August of this year. Her name is Emma. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
My grandmother’s baby sister, Marguerite (Aunt Ree). She is 86. I love this woman with a love that will not/cannot fail. She is the very reason why I still write and read as much as I do. She was a professor at Queens College FOR YEARS, and at Savannah State University. She is an author and an exceptional orator. Friday, February 20, 2026. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
She was so happy to see my mother. Although my parents have been divorced since I was 12 years old (I am 45 now), they had been together since they were teenagers, and I was the FIRST result of their teenage love. She will always have a special place in all of their hearts. Friday, February 20, 2026. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
My paternal great-uncle. My grandmother’s only and younger brother. He is 88 years old. His name is James, we call him Junnie/Uncle Junnie because he is a Junior. That sweet and gorgeous pup in our laps is his Yorkie, “Lady.” Friday, February 20, 2026. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
A photo of the three of us. He, too, was very happy to see my mom. Although my grandmother, great-aunt, and great-uncle all have dementia, their long-term memories are still intact. Their short-term memories, however, are questionable. They may or may not remember that they saw me this weekend. But I have the photos to show them, just in case. Friday, February 20, 2026. The three of us again. Look at my hair! Aja is truly doing her thing, and I am here for it! February, 20, 2026. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
My brother Michael (aka Peanut). We are the oldest two out of seven children. I, however, am the eldest. I am eight years older than him. I tell anyone who will listen, “He was my first real-live baby doll” LOL! Friday, February 20, 2026. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
“Just the two of us.” Because, yes! Friday, February 20, 2026. Photo Credit: Tremaine L. Loadholt
So far, my trip to Savannah, Georgia (my hometown) has been a blast! I am happy that I have been able to see as many people as I have, and I am grateful that I will see many more today. I am having fun, and my mother is, too!
Yes, my father’s family live very long lives. Exceptionally long. 😆😂🤣 If it’s the Lord’s Will, I’ll probably live pretty long, too. But that’s all up to Him.
You have a long-lived family, all with great smiles. Enjoy the rest of your visit.
