Microfiction: Kelsey’s Brother Tyson

Tyson is a firecracker with hair that sings and eyes that lure the most anxious passerby. He is a tag-along brother. He follows Kelsey everywhere she goes. At eight years old, you’d think the kid had his own friends with which to play, but he dotes on his big sister fiercely.
The day Kelsey went digging for her origin, he told her what he heard his parents discussing.
“Mommy said to Daddy, ‘If she ever finds out from anyone else, we’ll have Hell on our hands.’ Oops! Sorry, Kels. I cussed.”
“You did, little buddy. And that’s all right. So, they said I’m adopted, huh? That’s what you heard?”
“It’s what I heard.”
Taking in this newfound knowledge, Kelsey wraps it up in her mind and saves it for the day of confrontation. Someone is going to tell her the truth.
That little brother is me. I worshipped my big sisters growing up. Always wanted to be a part of their adventures, even if I didn’t understand what they were up to. But Kelsey is definitely on a mission. I’m.headed to part three now. 😊

🙏🏾🩵 Brace yourself for the third one.
Ha! I am the big sister, and I enjoyed every moment of my kid brothers wanting to hang out with or be around me. I loved it! I’m still close to all 5 of them to this day!

Amen.. I was little bro to 5 big sisters. Role reversal. I also had 6 big brothers too. Sibling wars would last for days… and yes… we are all still so close. The love is irreplaceable.

Aww, you are the BABY baby. I have one sister, and I am 19 years older than her.
Enjoy every moment of your siblings. I get so sad sometimes that mine have all grown up, and I start looking back at photos from the past and reminiscing. It’s both beautiful and sad as a big sister.

Yeah.. my eldest bro was 25 years older that me. I miss them a lot. Whenever I go home, I just embrace all of them. Life is short.
Big sisters are the best though. They’re the ones who encourage my writing every day.

An interesting setup. The contrast between Tyson’s innocent delivery of a devastating secret and Kelsey’s controlled reaction is nicely handled. How will she confront her parents? What will their reaction be? The way she ‘wraps it up’ suggests a careful, possibly even strategic, approach. Will she be angry? Sad? Or something else entirely?”

I agree with Michele, Kelsey seems quite brave and strong. She was smart with the information and hopefully her parents will help her understand 💗

Alright, I’m ready for number three! Love the AI images, even though I’m honestly trying to avoid any AI knowledge or use of it.

Haha. I cannot draw and I do not have any photos of my own that would properly fit the descriptions I’m looking for with this family. So, AI images, it will be. But I understand. Trust me, I do.
Thank you! Part III may be a bit sad.
