from the great Tony Hoagland’s poem A Color of the Sky:
a little dogwood tree is losing its mind;
overflowing with blossomfoam,
like a sudsy mug of beer;
like a bride ripping off her clothes,
dropping snow white petals to the ground in clouds,
so Nature’s wastefulness seems quietly obscene.
It’s been doing that all week:
making beauty,
and throwing it away,
and making more.

Thank you, lady! All of the trees on my block are in full bloom. It’s truly scary, especially because it’s going to be cold for at least another week.

What is that? A dogwood? Bradford Pear? Whatever it is, its pretty and a sure sign of Spring!

I believe it’s a magnolia tree, but I’m not 100% sure. They’re always so beautiful this time of year!

No, they have huge blooms and big wide leaves. The ones I mentioned bloom first in Texas, so I’m pretty sure it’s one or the other. ☺️

Thanks for sharing, TrE! Looks lovely. My trees are about to start blooming. However, I am so dreading it. Not ready for the side effects—sneezing, watery eyes, and headaches.🥴 But my landscape will look nice.🙃😂 Enjoy your day!
