Jake Understands Now (Microfiction)
Jake sees the Bone Marrow Specialist near his oncologist’s office for a consultation. The staff is helpful. The specialist is knowledgeable with a lovely bedside manner.
His success rate is 94%. Many of his patients live an additional ten to twenty years. His demographic is geriatric, but Miranda pleaded with him to see Jake. He agreed. He said Miranda’s plea moved him.
Now that they have her bone marrow, they can perform the transplant. Jake sits with every detail, says a silent prayer for his deceased sister, and cries softly.
Her death gives him life.
This concludes the Running With the Clouds series. Thank you for reading.
Again this was an odd series to read what was the inspiration

Odd as in how? “Odd” is never really a good term to me unless one is speaking about numbers.
No inspiration. The first installment came to me one day and I wrote it. Peter mentioned wanting to know more and the other characters started talking and I simply went from there. 😊

Well odd to me in the sense, I’d never think to write stories about the suicide of one person being the gift of life to another. Not odd as in bad or anything, I enjoyed reading them I guess I just found the subject matter hard to grasp as to why you wrote it. Idk.

Ahh. Fiction is a touchy genre. As a fiction writer, characters tend to start speaking to me, and when they do, I just go from there. I’m not necessarily inspired by anything, they just start speaking and I listen.
I hope that makes sense.

😂🤣😆 Trust me. Some of these characters I actually want to shut all the way up, but they won’t until I tell their story. 🙏🏾💙

I like reading snippets like this. I used to write a lot. It tests your ability to impress the reader quickly. Every word counts.

A wonderful tribute to so many selfless donors but, also, a sad reflection on those who feel there is no way forward for them.
