Microfiction: Kelsey’s sister, Miah (My-ah)

Miah is a sister-cousin/cousin-sister, but she is clueless. She only knows her big sister Kelsey is the light of her little six-year-old world. She is temper-tantrum goodness and field trip busy. She finds Kelsey lying down on their living room couch, softly whispering to herself.
“Kels, you talkin’ to you?”
“Hey, Miah. Yes, kiddo. I’m talking to myself.”
“What you sayin’?”
“Everything’s gonna be all right.”
“Oh . . . Okay, then.”
Miah rushes toward the staircase–her fiery red hair sailing in the breeze. She is clueless, and that’s a good thing.
Oh God, she’s so cute.
Kels pep talk is something we all do ain’t it? Love how her Lil Sis is just causal feel good energy. I need some of that.

Thank you! Yes, we all have to have these kinds of talks with ourselves. I love Miah! She reminds me a lot of my baby sister when she was younger.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Because my memory isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on, I had to go back and reread all of the installments to catch me up on the goings on.
This is turning out to be a compelling story, full of layered relationships and complex emotions. It’s easy to get invested in Kelsey’s journey of discovery. As mentioned before, the writing is vivid and engaging, painting a clear picture of each character.
Regarding Miah, the beauty of her innocence is palpable. Her scene provides a heartwarming contrast to the heavier themes explored thus far. At six years old, the complexities of adoption are far beyond her understanding, which, as is pointed out in the this segment, is a good thing right now. Her simple acceptance of Kelsey’s mantra (“Everything’s gonna be all right”) and immediate return to being a six-year-old tornado highlight the safety and uncomplicated love that can exist within a family, even when facing challenges. Miah represents a space of comfort and normalcy amidst the chaos.
Nicely, nicely, trE. Nicely, nicely.

Thank you, Rhyan. Truly. Yes, Miah is everything Kelsey needed at that moment. We can really learn from/gain a lot from the younger ones/the babes.
I appreciate the fact that you circled back to read the previous installments to jog your memory. I respect that.

That’s called getting old, kiddo. Brain ain’t what it used to be. My pleasure, though. Keep up the good work.

Clueless and “field trip busy” ~ a brief and sweet life phase. 😇

Yes, it is. *Sighs* I wish I still had only field trips to worry about sometimes.

Yes! I went on some amazing ones as a child. As a teacher… I’d rather not remember the loud bus rides and the stress of constantly counting heads. 😩😂

Cutie! Been loving the AI pictures. But Kels message to herself is the real gem, “Everything’s gonna be all right.” And is.
Enjoy your Saturday, trE!💗
