Introduce Yourself: Introducing Guest Author Ashton Smith — The PBS Blog
I read this article above and was overcome with emotion. I would be lying if I said I was surprised because capitalism and the ability to take from others what’s rightfully theirs or prevent others from making sustainable income is the primal American way. But I am saddened, deeply saddened by Ashton’s story, and I abhor the entities/organizations/people who have placed her in this position.
But I know and feel as though, better days are coming for her.
Read her story via Yecheilyah‘s blog. It’s truly worth it.
Such a damn shame! She’s not allowed to raise funds, yet these organizations are free to benefit from airing her story. The story of our lives.

You’re most welcome. I was saddened and angry to learn about it earlier myself.
Just craziness and totally unacceptable!

Exactly, Matt. Exactly. And ESPN and any other entity that had a hand in profiting from her talents without compensating her appropriately and accordingly.

Oh my gosh trE, how horribly sad Ashton’s story is. How heartbreaking yet infuriating. Her story, sadly is not a unique one. I have heard and read stories about people whose gifts and talents didn’t benefit them, but people who exploited them got away with murder. Practically every industry is guilty of this, whether entertainment, military, corporate, educational, medical, etc. Why didn’t the people who made money off of these individuals speak up on the injustice they experienced? Well, perhaps it’s because that would have cut into their profits. This is so unfair and despicable. I am so glad to see her fighting back, as we all should be. Thank you for bringing this horrifying act to light. Thank you for sharing her book too. 💖🙏🏽🦋

Oh my pleasure trE. This was so heartbreaking, but a true reality check. Thank you again for sharing. Tough to discuss but is a must to correct. 😥🙏🏽😊

It’s heartbreaking because people who should know better aren’t doing better.
And it gets me every single time.
Peace and blessings, Kim.
