he doesn’t know
love escaped in
the middle of the night
he slept a good chance away
she’ll never return
she’ll never stay
he kicks at the pillows
and tears down the drapes
clutches his heart in disbelief
this isn’t his fate
oh, but it is
is he ready for a life
of brutal honesty and loneliness
time will tell
or will he kill time too
