Winter dances on the
edge of acceptance
dolls her way back
into the fold
I pull down windows
shut balcony doors
the thermostat reads
65° and my arms
are home to goose bumps
I up the ante
turn on the heat
“Just to knock
the chill off”
and find some form
of comfort
She tricked us
sassy Winter and
switched things up
she just won’t let
Spring have her
shine
Lol winter never seems to want to leave!

Spring will get her toehold. Meanwhile, we slide into autumn.

🙏 I’m looking forward to autumn. Gotta get past summer here, though.

Here in sunny South Africa I find Winter invariably gives a last swipe of her tail, bidding us to remember that she’ll be back. Dunno why I think of Winter as female.

Haha. I think of Winter as a woman as well.

I will now forever think of Winter “dolling” back in about this time of year — love it! Little different climate up here but she’s being just as sassy. 😉

Ahh…southern spring. Where you need a hoodie in the morning and flip flops in the afternoon! Wouldn’t trade it for anything – well maybe the pollen but…🤷🏾♀️

Haha. It’s craziness! We’re going to have a week off dipping into the 30s at night with highs of 50s for the rest of this week after Tuesday.

Beautiful poem. The ‘S’ lines in the last stanza and the Personification effect is appreciated. You almost made the winter feeling on us while Spring was ogling in.
