NaPoWriMo #21

a 10-hour work day ahead
of me, I press myself against
the world, “Will I succeed in
doing my best today?”
the birds still
have something to sing
about, they’re good at
showing gratitude
while I fight myself
for sleeping with fear
and waking up to
sadness. I long to
live again.
