What Inspires You?

As a creative individual, what drives you to do what you do? How do you stay motivated to share your gifts with the world? You can leave your responses to this in the comments below.

I’ll go first . . . I love connection. If I can touch just one person each day with my writing, then I am meeting a personal goal. The ability to harness negative energy and turn it into something positive is what drives me, it keeps me going.

Now, it’s your turn. Please, don’t be shy. Share with us.

  • One thing I have really noticed is that for some of us, questions don’t work. I don’t respond to them emotionally, I learned this as a therapist, I would ask questions. I learned sometimes people can’t answer. I don’t know why but sometimes they just couldn’t. I can’t really answer this. xo

  • Well, I dunno if I have any gifts I could share with the rest of the world, but if I am to be brutally honest, I love listening to music and let my mind wander. If something comes to mind, I write it down. But these days, I seem more to just play out the “stories” in my mind rather than to write them out.

Then of course, there are very inspiring reads online which might prompt me from time to time.

All in all, I have to say, I’m rather erratic in my writing. 🤔

  • Knowing (for sure) that someone, somewhere is sitting around thinking they’re the only one with a so-called issue. It’s part of the reason I share what I write. I’ve felt like I was the “only one” before and it’s no fun. There’s power in sharing a story or two. That’s why I do what I do.

  • My inspiration these days comes from purpose… I know it my sound weird but anyone one with a strong foundation of purpose inspires me, no matter what you’re aspiring to but having that strong sense of purpose inspires me.

  • I am motivated by reading stories of people’s lives, by their poetry, and their fiction, by their dreams and their achievements. I have a vicarious satisfaction in other’s words.

  • I am with you on making connections by sharing my poetry. I started my blog, flashlight batteries.blog, as an effort to reach out to those struggling in dark and challenging times. My hope was and is to let people know that however they are feeling, they are not alone. My blogging is about giving. I also love to give feedback to other bloggers. I believe that everyone wants to be seen and heard.
I appreciate sharing my blogging journey with you.

  • Nature, the Woman Issue. shadows, controversy, paint (the substance), the moon (of course), colour, black and white, art, haiku, poetry, the sky, thinking, doodling, paper, abstraction (whatever that may mean), work of other artists …

  • Helping people is my number one goal, if what I share on my “business” blog helps one person gain better health, learn a new recipe, or learn about products they previously knew nothing about, then I consider myself a success. My other writing is for creative outlets, so that helps me as well. I too like the thought of connecting with people all over the world, learning from them as I hope they are learning from or being inspired by me.

    • Hello, Kim! Thank you for responding. I agree with you, being able to help others is a great reason to do what you do through writing.

  • Good morning. I have always craved creativity and expressing myself through dance. It is a later development to write and share and that is purely selfish. It is a cathartic exercise. And i am deeply touched to know i am not alone. I am amazed at the response. Sometimes I feel a fraud. Am I good enough? Then I forget my self-inhibition and tear into another layer. As I grow and heal, one can only hope to explore the arts further. Develop a true sense of self. Have a wonderful day. ☀️🎶
