a raging storm sweeps the city
pulls up trees and downs power lines
and a little monster who slayed dragons
and warded off a lochness sea creature
counts sheep on my bed
staring at the rise and fall of her belly
I wonder, “how much action is her brain
dishing out as she sleeps? who is she
fighting now?”
surrounded by her favorite toys
love tucks her in
and I fade into the background
lose myself in words
and wait for the storm to pass
love tucks her in
and I fade into the background
lose myself in words
and wait for the storm to pass
the life of a loved precious pet, beautiful words Tre and heartwarming β€

Beautiful poem. To the question, “Who is she fighting now?” it might be possible that “who is she fighting for now?”…π And this bit here, “surrounded by her favorite toys
love tucks her in
and I fade into the background”… Absolute love!

They come and go so very often here. It’s hurricane season, so we’re quite used to it. π But yes, it has. Thank you, Betty.

I’ve always liked storms but wouldn’t enjoy a hurricane. (We do on occasion experience hurricane strength windstorms here in the northwest but it’s been a few years since the last bad one.)
Glad it hasn’t been a bad year for hurricanes where you are, so far. Take care β€οΈ

Thank you, Betty. We only get the remnants here, thankfully. It’s been years since one actually hit this area.
