Doubtful: A Crumbling Nation

It’s utterly hurtful watching one’s nation take 1500 steps back…

  • I cope by having lived through the Bush years. He absolutely terrified me. I mean, I had a friend who was in one of the Pentagon think tanks who came back one time and bought property in Costa Rica because he said Bush wanted to move ahead with the draft. Thank God they didn’t, but I have one son and was not rich by any means at all. I sobbed the entire day Bush was re-elected and did everything I could to prepare us to leave the country if need be. But it didn’t happen and we lived through it. And we will live through this. That is, if one Trump’s pissed-off-thirteen-year-old-boy tweets don’t get us blown up first. But….God. I DO believe we’ll get through it. We will be able to heal this. Hang in there. I don’t even watch the news anymore. I breathe. I try to be a loving person in my own little world. I do what I physically am able. That’s all we can do. There are a lot of wonderful people putting out some seriously powerful healing energy right now. We don’t hear about that….but I think it’s true. Your poem is a powerhouse. And yes. God. Hugs. Thank You. ❤️

  • Wow Tre! This is definitely one of your best! I am not saying that to discount the value ALL your poetry has because you truly rock it so many times it’s almost absurd! But this really speaks to the NOW that we can all relate to (unless we are insane and somehow don’t GET that this is happening to us!!!). A really well written and timely and absolutely ON point poem. More of a call for change. I love it! PS I also love the new image in your site background it’s gorgeous!

  • I suppose I am lucky to be a Canadian, yet it is difficult to watch and hear what is coming out of your country.
Change, I think that is what you need, simply change.
    Blessings, Harlon
