Hidden, coiled into itself,
reminding me of how
you disappear whenever I
get close to you.
You trap yourself,
closed off from the world
closed off from me.
Somehow, the wall you
built for me is not my Jericho.
I break through it every time.
You stand on unsure footing
knowing that you are safe
yet still full of fear.
I could not hurt you
if I tried.
You know this,
begging me to keep my word.
I do.
Calmly, you turn to me,
whisper into my listening ear
and say,
“I need you now more
than I ever did before. Promise me
you will stay.”
I never met a promise I
could not keep and
for you, this remains true.
You are too much! We’re due for another collaboration anyway. Thank you always for the support, Barry!

trE, my favorite part of this is the ending,
“I never met a promise I
could not keep and
for you, this remains true.”
Sounds like love in action to me.

This speaks to your ability to love, but also….to the fact that you have someone you can trust enough to make that commitment to, that you can keep your promises to. I’ve learned to discern between those that make it easy to keep a promise and those who make it easy to break one, and for the most part, have distanced myself from the later in favor of more of the former. Love your thoughtful, insightfulness trE.

And get the giggles when you say ” yes ma’am” I’ll never quit finding that delightful and funny when people say it, it’s so respectful, but I always wonder who the ma’am is? ;). 💓

Come on now, you’re the ma’am, ma’am. LOL. Ha! 😀

You do love … So well. This is really lovely. I think everyone wants someone who feels this way but few get it because it takes appreciating at a greater depth than the self centered tend to be capable of. Beautiful words.
